Marcela Clavijo is an Arabic dancer, occupational therapist and artisan, and the founder of Danzar, an Arabic dance school in Bogotá with more than twenty years of history. Her brand brings together three worlds: the dance school, therapy sessions with Vida a Todo Color and handmade products with Naturalmente.
For her gala "Danzar: La Existencia en Movimiento", presented together with Alcázar at the Gimnasio Moderno theater, she needed more than a payment link: she wanted to sell her own tickets, with numbered seats, under her own domain and branding.
The challenge
- Present the brand's three lines, its history and its classes on a single website.
- Sell numbered-seat tickets for two shows on the same day, with about 600 seats per show, without ever selling a seat twice.
- Take payments online with the methods Colombians use and deliver tickets instantly.
- Control entry to the theater on the day of the event and also sell at the box office.
The solution
A website with the brand's identity
At marcelaclavijo.com we built an interactive site with an animated background, flip cards for each brand line, a timeline of Danzar's history since 2001, schedules, plans, a first-class sign-up form and a gallery with more than twenty videos that only load when the visitor opens them, so the site stays fast.
In-house ticketing with a seat map
At eventos.marcelaclavijo.com, the audience picks a show, sees the real theater plan with the stage, exits and zones, and chooses up to six seats with zoom and drag on their phone. While they pay, the seats are held for ten minutes with a visible countdown.
Online payment and QR tickets
Payment goes through ePayco: card, PSE, Nequi and other methods. Once approved, the buyer receives an email with a PDF ticket and a unique QR code per seat. If they lose the email, they can download their tickets again with a verification code sent to their inbox, without creating an account.
Tools for event day
- QR scanner on the phone: the logistics team validates tickets at the door from several phones, and the system detects tickets already used or meant for another show.
- Mobile box office: cash and Bre-B sales on the day, with real-time seat validation and cash closing.
- Live arrivals: who has already entered and who is still missing, per show.
- Complimentary tickets and coupons: complimentary tickets generated in bulk and discount codes with validity dates.
- Admin panel and statistics: sales, occupancy per show, attendance, arrival times and revenue by channel.
How we built it
- Zero double-sold seats: holds are atomic and the database allows only one ticket per seat and show.
- Tamper-proof payments: the server recalculates the purchase amount, verifies the signature of every payment notification and compares what was charged with what was authorized. If a notification never arrives, the system checks the payment status on its own, and that has already rescued a real purchase.
- Security at the door and in the panel: unique, non-transferable QR codes, role-based access, hashed passwords and attempt limits.
- Dedicated infrastructure: the ticketing platform runs in containers on Azure with automatic HTTPS certificates, and the website on Vercel.
The result
The brand sold its gala with its own system, under its own domain and branding, without depending on an external ticketing company. The audience bought in minutes from their phones, received their tickets instantly and entered the theater by showing a QR code. On event day, the team ran the door and the box office from their phones, and after the show the organizer had complete statistics for her event.
